Next Saturday, June 18, the day before Father’s Day, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be a Strawberry Social on the grounds of Emmanuel United Church on rue Principale in Cowansville. It is the church right beside the Giant Tiger parking lot.
Adults will be charged $8 and children $5. The dessert will be local strawberries with vanilla cake and a choice of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream with a drink included.
Throughout the afternoon live music will be offered by local musicians. The church will also have a table of Attic Treasures to tempt customers after tasting the strawberry delights.
Like many institutions, Emmanuel United is trying to maintain and branch out its social occasions. Many came to support the Quilt Show and the Health Fair, and it is to be hoped that a good turnout will happen next Saturday. The event goes forward rain or shine. If there is a heavy rain, everything will be moved to the church hall.
