Fordyce Women’s Institute giving cookies to local group homes

By Louise Smith

The Fordyce Women’s Institute is one of two branches of the women’s institutes which makes up the Missisquoi County Women’s Institutes. The Fordyce branch meets in the hall of Emmanuel United Church on rue Principale in Cowansville.
At their regular April meeting quite a few items were taken care of. Flowers are going to be sent to Evelyn Lewis, their honoured member, who now lives in Montreal, but who will be turning 101 later this month!
Janet Patch was welcomed as a new member of the Fordyce branch.
Recruiting new members is a goal for the upcoming year.
The Fordyce branch will be present with members from the Dunham branch at the Health Fair to be held on the last Saturday in April at Emmanuel United Church.
At the end of the meeting Edwina Bougie gathered up donated packages of cookies. They were then going to be distributed to the youth in two group homes in Cowansville. Cookies are always a welcomed donation.
