On Saturday, Aug. 13, members of the Cowansville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and family and friends from other chapters met at the Coq Roti Restaurant in Cowansville to celebrate the centenary of the chapter. It was formed in November 1922.

Beverly Sanborn, the Worthy Matron, greeted everyone and read out warm wishes from those unable to attend. Eric Sanborn, the Worthy Patron, led a toast to celebrate the chapter getting to one hundred years.

Brenda Stone and a dedicated team put together souvenir cards which served as autograph collectors, as well as preparing party favours, door prizes, and decorations for the room at the restaurant.

Thirty-two people gathered for the celebration and it was a joyous and light -hearted event. The food was good as was the conversations and a good time was had by all.

The chapter has been a strong presence in the community particularly with the Brome Missisquoi Perkins Hospital. The chapter will continue to support worthy causes as its history continues.
